Kareueus

Still from my past archive, now we are heading to the rainy city, Bogor =).. So, it was a lunch on our way to Puncak from Jakarta. My friend that live in Bogor brought us to Sundanese restaurant called "Kareueus". Kareueus is sundanese language means "proud".

The main entrance

Wilujeng Sumping, another sundanese language, means "Welcome"

The menu book. Simple yet extensive. As you can see, the price is not too high or overpriced.

They gave us compliment, yeay!! It's rare for sundanese restaurant giving such compliment like this. It was fried taro with Bangkok style sambal. Unique!

Cumi Goreng Kareueus (Kareueus Fried Squid) (30k++). Nothing special about the dish. Standard taste but not bad and standard presentation. However, the squid was so tender.

Rating: 7.0/10

Sop Ikan Gurame - Large (Carp Soup) (75k++). I always prefer the fish to be fried or grill but the soup here is a must a try! The soup was clear yet fragrant and fresh. Thanks to tomatoes and basil leaves there =). We can choose either the fish to be fried first or not. Believe me, opt the fried one, so it gave us texture and richer flavour. Top notch!!

Rating: 8.5/10

Tahu Isi (Fried Stuffed Tofu) (15k++). Just an ordinary battered fried tofu stuffed with vegetables, such as carrot, cabbage, and bean sprout. Not bad though.

Rating: 7.0/10

Tempe Goreng (Fried Soybean Cake) (8.5k++). Four pieces fried tempe and some kremesan (the crunchy battered) on top of it. Nothing special, but rich of protein =)

Rating: 7.0/10

To be honest I really surprise with the fish soup. I never expect the soup was so rich and savoury. Try it readers!! =D

Nasi Uduk Kebon Kacang Puas Hati

Aarggh..it's been a long time since I wrote the last posting. Of course, I'm still doing my culinary journey and I hope I can post my experiences periodically.

And here is the posting abut Nasi Uduk Kebon Kacang which I tried maybe around 2 years ago =P

Nasi uduk (uduk rice) is Indonesian traditional food, made by rice which cooked with spices and coconut milk. So it's fragrant and savoury. There're a lot of nasi uduk sellers in Jakarta and the famous Kebon Kacang is really one stop place for nasi uduk lovers =D

The place we're came called "Puas Hati". A friend treated us to celebrate her birthday..yeay!

They served a small piece of nasi uduk wrapped with banana leaf. Must take a lot pieces for those with big appetite ya :p ..The rice is tasty and fragrant. A well-made Jakarta style nasi uduk.

Look at the yellowy fried chicken =9 *drooling*

Shrimp satay and tripe (babat) to make your nasi uduk complete

*Woopss..a fast hand*  Fried tofu, tempe (soybean cake) and sambal kacang (peanut chili sauce) are never failing us

A nice nasi uduk experience..yumm!! So sorry I didn't know the price, but I think it won't make you take a loan =P

*Overall rating : 7.9/10*

Sate Maranggi & Es Kelapa Muda "Cibungur"

My clients brought me here for lunch when I had an office assignment in Cikampek area.. They served Sate Maranggi and young coconut ice.. Hmm..sounds greatt!! (and I was treated =D )

As the banner wrote they do not have branch besides the place.. Maybe they want to keep the quality well..

You won't believe until you come, but the place is really big and it feels like we're eating in the middle of jungle.. Really refreshing!!

The rice came in small portion and wrapped with banana leaf.. Traditional and nice..

It's the Sate Maranggi.. It usually made from beef.. rubbed with some spices and they tasted sweet and delicate.. I've tried sate maranggi with peanut sauce, but here they served it with tomatoes and chilies cut.. Trust me, they tasted sooo nice.. The combination between sweet (from satay) and sour-spicy (from the condiment) really works!! Fresh and tasty!!  *droollinngg*
Rating: 8.3/10

It's the young coconut ice.. And again, it's greatt.. Really refreshing..

We got the ambience and the food.. So what are you waiting for..? Yes, the time =).. It quite far from Jakarta and I don't know when I will come again.. How can they do not have another branch here...

RM. Berkah

Another story of my out-of-office assignment. We're in Cilandak area and one of my friend suggested us to had a lunch here...

I don't really remember about the detail location since I very seldom go out to Cilandak area..

It's their specialty.. The meat soup (35k).. A clear and spicyful soup with pieces of meat.. This is not my favorite type of dish.. But they cooked the meat very well.. They're so tender that I could cut them easily with spoon...
*Rating : 7/10*

The side dishes and guava juice..

Ketoprak Royal - First Love in Jakarta

Hii..since this is my first posting then I want to review about my first-remembered-meal when I came to Jakarta...

Located in the middle way of Royani I Street.. Find it easily when you get the way from Prof. Dr. Satrio Street...

The basic ingredients: garlic, salt and red chili (amount as request)

Mas Heri the maker...

And yup..the best ketoprak I ever had...
*Rating : 9/10*

It's not about the cost (7k) but it's really really that deliciouss!! (for me and some of my friends admit it).. The peanut sauce is thick and nice..the rice cake, beansprouts and rice vermicelli are good, but you won't miss the fried tofu because it's the best.. Also, they come in generous portion... Simply heaven, my first love in Jakarta...
